Covid 19

At Sundarban Houseboat, our guest’s and crew’s safety and well-being have always been the top priority for us. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken the world by surprise and everyone has gone through some very difficult months. We are very happy that we can offer our trips again with many additional safety measures. Because after the past few months, in which we have lived with so many limitations, there is nothing better than going outside again, amidst nature’s best and feel the freedom from the isolated lockdown with a good company and a trustworthy host.

We are currently laser-focused on additional safety enhancements for our return to the service. To develop our future boarding screening process and updated health protocols, we are collaborating with government health authorities to ensure that best protocols are followed. Please note that every decision that we make and all of the fine-tuning we do has your well-being in our minds. We Miss You..! and can’t wait to welcome you back on- board.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES

We intend to ensure that your concerns about hygiene and safety are well taken care of at all times. In lieu of this we have the following measures in place:

ENHANCED BOARDING SCREENING

Before taking the trip to Sundarban, we’ll send out emails to our guests to remind them of the face mask policy and necessary health protocols documents that they will be required to bring along. We will keep a small stock of face masks, sanitizers, and medicines for an emergency. During the course of the tour, the rules regarding social distancing and hygiene will be observed.

Before boarding, all the guests have to participate in mandatory screenings and some of the guests may be subjected to a secondary review. Dependent upon screening results, some guests may be denied boarding to ensure that we keep our houseboat healthy, hygienic, and safe.

HYGIENE EVERYWHERE
  • We would be conducting daily briefing of the crew and tour leaders for: -What works well? What could be better?
  • We will be giving detailed hygiene instructions to all the passengers while going out.
  • Regular explanations will be given to the guests about the measures a number of times at the start of the tour, thereafter whenever necessary.
  • Permanent disinfection stations at designated areas will be provided during the tour.
  • Permanent disinfection stations at designated areas will be provided during the tour.
  • Our crew will be doing regular disinfection of contact surfaces visible to guests: door handles, banisters, tables, railings, windowsills, light switches, remotes, etc.
  • We also intend to make hand sanitizer stations available and would enforce hand cleansing at all times to everyone.
ENHANCED MEDICAL PROTOCOLS
  • We have rigorous medical protocols in place to help those who are not feeling well, like complimentary medical consultations for guests with fever or flu-like symptoms, medical isolation when warranted and intensified boat cleaning, air filtration, and sanitization procedures.
  • Before and after all trips, the boat would be thoroughly sanitized.
  • Every crew member would sanitize their hands and wear face-masks & gloves at all times.
  • Our crew would also make reminder announcements each day to the guests for washing/sanitizing hands often, wear a mask whenever stepping out of the rooms, use recommended coughing etiquette, and to report any high fever or flu-like illness symptoms immediately.
DOING YOUR PART
  • After bathroom visits and before meals and snacks, make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 30 seconds.
  • Wear face-masks whenever stepping out of your room.
  • If you happen to sneeze or cough, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue, handkerchief, or your upper sleeve but never with your hands or without covering your nose and mouth. It’s polite and the right thing to do.
  • Use hand sanitizer often. Rub the gel thoroughly in between your fingers, until your hands are dry.
